It’s Drew Brees versus Tom Brady in the oldest ever NFL play-off quarterback face off this weekend, when the New Orleans Saints welcome the Tampa Bay Buccaneers to Louisiana in the play-offs. These two teams have already met on two previous occasions this season, and the Saints won both at home and in Florida. It will be interesting to see if Brees can once again mastermind a victory over his old opponent Brady’s Bucs this weekend in New Orleans. Read on to see where we think the key stats are, and where you can find the best betting value.

Brees versus Brady

Drew Brees and Tom Brady will form an opposing quarterback duo this Sunday that has a combined age of 85. This could be the very last time that these two old foes meet, with Brees likely to retire at the end of the current season. Their battle certainly adds a touch of poignancy to the game, and Brady will not want to lose out to his old opponent for the third time this season. The two have a rivalry that now spans four decades, dating back to 1999 when they faced each other in their college days.

Of course, there is much more about both teams than their quarterbacks. Saints running back Alvin Kamara stepped up in last weekend’s win over the Chicago Bears, producing 116 yards of rushing. The Bucs will need to keep a close eye on him. Tampa Bay has a penetrating running back of its own too, in the shape of Leonard Fournette. The player had an underwhelming season, averaging just 3.8 yards per carry, but he shone against the Bears last week, running for 93 yards and a touchdown. He also caught four passes for 39 yards, and another good performance this weekend would certainly help his team.

Our Pick: Tampa Bay to win

We suspect that Tom Brady will be the quarterback who emerges from this game with the chance to add his already impressive haul of NFL championship rings. Not only will the Bucs be keen to avoid a third defeat to the Saints in the season, but Brady will not want to lose out to Brees. The game is likely to be tight and tense and it could turn out to be a real thriller. A nice simple bet on Tampa to win at odds of +145 looks tempting to us.
