Welcome to our first Sunday Night Football betting tip of the new NFL season! This Sunday evening, in week 4, we will see the Super Bowl champions the Tampa Bay Buccaneers travel up the East coast to face the New England Patriots! That’s right - it’s the return of Tom Brady to Foxborough!
As usual, we’re going to discuss everything about the two franchises, including their performances in the first three weeks of the season. It’s going to be an extremely exciting affair for many, and it’s NFL Prime Time! Who will come out on top, as arguably the greatest ever QB travels back to New England where he dominated the league?
Super Bowl LV champions the Tampa Bay Buccaneers have a 2-1 record heading into week 4, with their latest game ending in a 34-24 loss to the LA Rams. In the first two games for the Buccaneers, a 31-29 victory over the Dallas Cowboys & a dominant 48-25 win against division rivals the Atlanta Falcons was a strong first two games for Brady & Co.. However, in their latest matchup, the LA Rams overcame the odds and beat Tampa Bay, meaning that the Buccaneers head into week 4 needing to bounce back with a victory.
It wasn’t the best start to the season for the Patriots, losing 16-15 to division rivals the Miami Dolphins. However, a 25-6 win over the New York Jets saw New England level their record to 1-1. However, in week 3, a loss to a strong New Orleans Saints franchise finds Bill Belichick and the Patriots 1-2 heading into week 4. For rookie QB Mac Jones, he is still in the learning process & adapting to the league. There have been ups & downs already for New England this season, but now they face their toughest test of the season against the Super Bowl champions.
This may come as a surprise to a number of football fans - the Tampa Bay Buccaneers & New England Patriots have only played each other five teams since 2000! On top of that, it’s been four years since the two last went toe-to-toe on the field - so when we look at the previous head to head results, the two franchises have drastically changed since! So, while the New England Patriots have won four of the last five games against the Bucs, a substantial amount of factors have changed - including the fact that Tom Brady has gone from the Patriots to Tampa Bay!
As always, we will provide the previous head to head details when we share our betting tips - just in case there is something to take away from the statistical highlights! However, as the two have only played each five times in the 21st century, then you should be aware that we haven’t considered this too much when putting together our latest betting tip!
So, after our experts analyzed everything going into this exciting matchup on Sunday evening, we have predicted that the Tampa Bay Buccaneers will take the win on the road, with over 49.5 total points combined on the night!
We think that the Buccaneers will be too strong for their opponents on Sunday night, and will constantly be pressuring the New England Patriots at every opportunity. Tom Brady & the offense will look to be scoring many more points against an average Patriots defense, whilst the Bucs defensive line will be hoping to put pressure on rookie QB Jones throughout the four quarters. With that said, we’re thinking it’s likely that the Bucs will be able to put up plenty of points on the night, just like they did against the Atlanta Falcons.
