Tampa Bay Buccaneers head up to Georgia on Sunday to take on the improving Atlanta Falcons for an all-NFC South match-up. The Bucs are still in the hunt for an NFC wild card spot so will want to make sure they win against one of the NFLs’ weaker teams. The Falcons cannot now make the play-offs, so their priority is ensuring that they are in a stronger position to build for 2021. Read on to see where the best betting value for the game can be found!
Can Brady find his form?
Atlanta is one of three teams currently ranked bottom of the NFC, with the others being the Dallas Cowboys and Carolina Panthers. There is one major difference between the Falcons and those other two teams, though – Atlanta has actually outscored its opponents this season despite having a 4-9 record overall. Their scoring differential is actually better than 17 other NFL teams, including the Cleveland Browns, who have a 9-4 record. That means that they can cause Tampa some problems this weekend.
Heading into Week Six of the season, Atlanta had a 0-5 record and had just fired head coach Dan Quinn after a defeat to Carolina. Tampa Bay stood at 3-2 at that time and was just about to complete a three-game winning streak. The Bucs are now 8-5 and are still in the hunt for the play-offs. The Falcons have a 4-3 record since firing Quinn and replacing him with Raheem Morris. Their passing offense has looked impressive with quarterback Matt Ryan looking steady without being stellar.
Tom Brady has been inconsistent in Tampa colors this season but he will have a chance to put some of that right on Sunday. The Falcons defense has allowed the third-most passing yards this season. Atlanta also tends to lose close games, having been defeated in their last two outings by a combined total of just eight points. Ronald Jones provides some power for the Bucs’ offensive running game.
Our Pick: Tampa Bay by 1-6
We’re backing Tampa Bay to win this game by one to six points. We suspect that Tom Brady will have too much experience for the Falcons defense and will pick holes in it with some astute passing. It will be close, though, as the Falcons have made themselves much harder to beat than they were earlier in the season. Despite their defensive improvements, the Falcons are still a bit of a shambles on offense and just don’t have the power to score enough points to secure victory.
