Philadelphia Eagles @ Arizona Cardinals Match Preview
Cardinals by 1-6 · December 20 2020 - 4:00 pm · State Farm Stadium
Philadelphia Eagles travel to face the Arizona Cardinals this Sunday at the State Farm Stadium with the play-off hopes of both teams still just about alive. Both teams go into this game on the back of victories that ended losing runs so they will want to continue their momentum. The Cardinals looked good in defense last week when they won at New York Giants, while the Eagles seem to have unearthed a talent at QB. Read on to see where the best betting value can be found in what should be a gripping contest.
Jalen to hurt Cardinals?
Eagles coach Doug Pederson has confirmed that Jalen Hurts will continue at quarterback this weekend after putting in a fine display in the win over New Orleans last weekend. Hurts was brought into the starting line-up to replace Carson Wentz after the Eagles went on a four-game losing streak. It looks likely now that Hurts, a rookie, will retain his starting spot for the rest of the season, after throwing for a touchdown and rushing for 106 yards last week. His ability to run makes him a tough player for defensive coaches to plan against.
Of course, the Cardinals have their own strong quarterback in the shape of Kyler Murray. He has been helped by having the outstanding DeAndre Hopkins to throw to. Murray has completed 309 of 461 passes this season, for 3,231 yards and 23 touchdowns. He has thrown 10 interceptions, though, suggesting that the Cardinals might be able to apply some pressure to him. Hopkins has 91 catches to his name this season, for 1,155 yards and five touchdowns.
The Eagles will be missing a key man on defense, though. Safety Rodney McLeod, a defensive captain, suffered a torn left ACL in the victory over New Orleans and his absence will leave a void. Arizona looked good on defense in their victory over the NY Giants last weekend, sacking the quarterback eight times.
Our Pick: Cardinals to win by 1-6
This is a tough game to call but we think that the Cardinals will edge it by one to six points. If you agree with that view, you can back that outcome at odds of +350 at 888Sport. We think that Kyler Murray will be the key man once again and will continue his fine season. We suspect that the Eagles will be put under pressure when they have the ball and Jalen Hurts will have to cope with being targeted. It should be a really entertaining game for the spectators!
