Welcome to the latest round of MLS betting tips here at CaptainGambling.com, as we head into the highly anticipated third match day of the 2021 season. As always, our dedicated soccer experts and top tipsters are on hand to provide you with the best predictions for the coming weekend!
For the purposes of this betting tip, we’ll be focussing on an Easy Coast Battle, as New York Red Bulls play host to Chicago We’ve provided you with a detailed analysis of each team’s season so far below - so read on to find out!
They say that Red Bull gives you wings, but it hasn’t exactly been a flying start to this campaign for the New York outfit. The Red Bulls have lost both of their games so far against Sporting Kansas and LA Galax respectively.
One of the positives that Austrian manager, Gerhard Struber, can cling onto is the fact that his side have managed to score three across the two games. The defense looks extremely problematic though, and so they’ll need to sort that out quickly if they’ve to have any chance this season
Chicago Fire have only had marginally better start to the 2021 MLS season than their hosts, having drawn their opening game against New England before losing 3-1 to Atlanta United. Luka Stojanović is looking good for the Fire so far though, having scored in both games. He’s also proven himself to be versatile player, having played as both a right midfielder and a lone striker. Much like their hosts though, Chicago’s defense looks shaky, and coach Raphaël Wicky won’t have been impressed with the own goal which gifted Atlanta United the lead last weekend.
The recent head to head record shows a very even spread, as each side has two wins apiece from the last five games, with the remaining one ending in a draw. Chicago haven’t beaten the Red Bulls in New York since 2018 though, and despite their recent slum, the Red Bulls have been pretty strong at Red Bull Arena over the past couple of seasons. Both teams scored in each of the last two meetings, and given both of their respective defensive records this season, we’re confident we’ll see goals at either end this Saturday.
Below you can find the result from the last five games between the New York Red Bulls and Chicago Fire, as well as their league stats for the 2021 MLS season so far. We’ve used this information alongside our expert analysis in order to bring you our top betting tip for this week.
Having considered all of the above information, we’re predicting a NY Red Bulls win with both teams find their way onto the scoresheet.
There’s not a lot separating these sides in terms of quality and stats. They have the exact same goal ratio so far this season (3:5) and have two wins each and draw between them in their last five. Still NY Red Bull put two passed Galaxy in LA on Sunday, and looked good enough to win if it hadn’t been for the Javier Hernandez hat-trick that sunk them.
Our top betting pick for this week is therefore a Red Bull win plus both teams to score at odds of +260 with FanDuel.
