New England vs The Midwest
It’s the descendant of the original patriots taking on the champions and giants of the midwest this Sunday. New England Revolution are set to host reigning MLS Cup title winners Columbus Crew at the Gillette Stadium in Foxborough, MA – and we’re bring you all the best predictions for the game!
New England Revolution
New England’s 2021 MLS campaign got off to a good start. The Revolution were unlucky to tie their oper against Chicago Fire, but then went on to get impressive back to back Eastern Conference wins against DC United and Atlanta United. Their short undefeated run was brought to an abrupt end last weekend though, as a trip down to Nashville resulted in a disappointing 2-0 loss. Still, Spanish forward Carles Gil has scored four goals in four games so far.
Columbus Crew SC
Columbus Crew got off to a very unexciting start to their MLS campaign, with back to back goalless draws. Despite failing to find the net, coach Caleb Porter was left happy that his team’s solid defense was still in place. The Crew quickly bounced back though, running out 3-1 winners against DC United, getting their first three points and maining their undefeated run in the process. Unfortunately, the crashed out of the CONCACAF Champions League against Mexican giants Monterrey.
Head to Head
New England fans might want to look away for this bit. Columbus Crew have won each of their last four against New England Revolution. To make matters worse, all of those four wins have been shutouts. That’s right New England have went four games without manage so much as a goal against the reigning MLS Champions. The last time they socred was in a 2-2 draw over three years ago – back in April 2018.
Having analyzed the statistics above, we’re calling a win for Columbus Crew this Sunday.
Columbus to Continue Record Against New England
Despite Columbs Crew being reigning MLS champions with a solid record against New England, the bookies are favoring a New England Revolution victory on Sunday. This is perhaps based somewhat on recent form, but we feel the bookmakers are missing a trick. There’s no shame in losing to Mexico’s best side Monterrey, and Columbus Crew’s MLS performances have been continuously improving. Even with a striker as prolific as Carles Gil, New England will struggle to take all three points from Columbus.
We’re backing an away win at odds of +280 with Unibet.
