Miami Dolphins travel north to face New York Jets in New Jersey this weekend, and the Florida franchise are strong favorites. The Jets are yet to win a game this season and are propping up the rest of the AFC East. The Dolphins lost last weekend and will want to win to keep up the pressure on the Buffalo Bills at the top of the division. That should give the Jets a problem, as the Dolphins are sure to be well-motivated. The Jets simply lack the quality to compete with other teams this season, and bettors should take note of that.
The Jets are Terrible in 2020
Last weekend, the Dolphins lost for the first time in almost two months. Their 20-13 defeat at the Denver Broncos was a learning experience for the team, as far as head coach Brian Flores is concerned. Flores wants to see his team take their opportunities after a handful of chances were spurned against the Broncos. Miami can sweep a division rival if they win this Sunday, another source of motivation for the Dolphins.
They will need a better display from quarterback Tua Tagovailoa if they want to make sure of victory, though. He managed just 50 passing yards and was sacked six times against Denver, Ryan Fitzpatrick stepped in and produced a solid enough display, but the Dolphins coaching hierarchy is insistent that Tagavailoa remains their starting option. It is fair to say, though, that the Jets’ defense is not going to be able to exert the same level of pressure as the Broncos managed, and Tagavailoa will probably get the time and space he needs to put that nightmare behind him.
Prior to the Denver defeat, the Dolphins were on a five-game winning streak. That run was mainly due to their strong defense, which is holding teams to an average of 20 points per game. They should be able to keep out a Jets offense that is averaging just 13.4 points and less than 300 yards total offense per game. The first fixture between these two teams ended 24-0 in favour of Miami, and it would take a brave bettor to back anything different happening this Sunday.
Our Pick: Dolphins to score first and win
Or tip for this game is that the Dolphins will score first and go on to win the game, and probably pretty comfortably. We just cannot see a way for the Jets to win, unless they enjoy a huge slice of luck. We think that Miami will start strong and maintain their momentum to rack up a huge score. If you think our tip works for you, 888Sport are offering a price of +105, odds that look pretty tempting to us. Dolphins fans are likely to enjoy this Sunday’s game but Jets fans less so.
