Indianapolis Colts @ Las Vegas Raiders

Indianapolis Colts make the trip to Nevada this weekend to face the Las Vegas Raiders. This is the third consecutive season as well as the fourth time in the last five years that the two teams have met. The Raiders have won two of the last three meetings, including winning 31-24 in 2019. Both teams managed to win ugly last weekend and are still very much in the hunt for play-off places. The Raiders came close to losing to the NFL’s worst team in the shape of the New York Jets. It should be an interesting game on Sunday.

Expect a close encounter

Las Vegas travelled to New York last weekend and was lucky to come away with a win over the Jets. The result hinged on Jets defensive coordinator Gregg Williams calling a risky blitz on the last play that allowed the Raiders to score a dramatic winning touchdown. The play cost Williams his job, but the Raiders will have been mightily relieved to have avoided defeat against the NFL’s worst team. That win gave Las Vegas a 7-5 record for the season, and the team is very much in the hunt for a wild card spot in the post-season. Raiders tight end Darren Waller enjoyed an exceptional game - becoming just the fourth tight end to record 200 receiving yards and two touchdowns in an NFL game.

The Colts head into Sunday with an 8-4 record and they are battling it out with the Tennessee Titans to claim top spot in the AFC South. Quarterback Phillip Rivers will be looking to dominate on Sunday, especially against a Raiders defense that has conceded at least 28 points in its last three games. The Colts defense is very strong against the pass, having allowed just 15 passing touchdowns all season – the third best record in the NFL. They will need to be sharp against a Raiders offense that scores on 48% of its drives, the second best figure in the NFL.
