On Saturday night, we will be watching a Western Conference clash between FC Dallas and LA Galaxy. It’s safe to say that the two have had heavily contrasting seasons so far. FC Dallas Struggling in 2021
For FC Dallas, the start to the 2021 MLS season has certainly been one to forget. With just two wins recorded - the least amount in the league (joint with Atlanta United & Inter Miami) - the home side for Saturday night’s encounter are currently bottom of the Western Conference. Dallas have had very little success in the league thus far, with only a total of 11 points from 14 games played. A 2-0 defeat in their midweek game against Colorado Rapids summed up their season, despite their last win coming against New England Revolution, who are currently runaway leaders in the Eastern Conference.
A Battle in the West for Galaxy
In a complete contrast to the home side, it has been a positive campaign so far for LA Galaxy, who are competing for that top spot in the conference. Placed in third, Galaxy are in the running and challenging at the top of the MLS. On top of all of this, the traveling side have only drawn one game this season, out of their total of 14 league games - in their most recent game, midweek against Real Salt Lake. Now, with a great opportunity to put pressure on some of the other teams at the top of the Western Conference, a win on the road will certainly give LA Galaxy an opportunity to push on for that No.1 spot in the west.
In the last five head to head encounters, the wins are surprisingly edged in favor of FC Dallas. With three wins and two losses, the home side can certainly look at these stats to give themselves some form of confidence heading into the match. However, with that said, it has been LA Galaxy that have come away with all three points in the two most recent games between the two. On top of that, their latest encounter was earlier this season, with Galaxy beating Dallas 3-1 at home.
