Welcome back to another week of our NFL betting tips! It has already been an exciting three weeks of football - it’s not even been a full month! There’s much more football action to come, and that includes a tasty NFC North matchup, as the Detroit Lions travel to Soldier Field to take on the Chicago Bears.
As always, we’re going to take a look at how the two franchises have started the season, and how strong they’re looking into week 4 of the new season. Then, we’ll look at previous head to head encounters of the two division rivals, before sharing our latest betting tip for Sunday afternoon’s matchup!
It was a bitter pill to swallow for the Detroit Lions in week 3, who lost in the final second of the game with a record-breaking field goal. The Baltimore Ravens kicker Justin Tucker successfully kicked a 66 yard field goal to win the game for the Ravens - the longest ever in NFL history. Unfortunately for the Lions, it has left them 0-3 on the season, one of the five franchises without a win in the opening three games. However, one positive from the Lions is that new QB Jared Goff has done well with the offense so far, and will look to try once again against their NFC North rival on Sunday afternoon.
The Chicago Bears do have a win to their name, as in week 2 they defeated the Cincinnati Bengals 20-17. However, with rookie QB Justin Fields now in the starting role, the Bears will look to cement his role in the squad. In week 3 against the Cleveland Browns, however, Chicago struggled to get any form of momentum on offense, only scoring two field goals and losing 26-6. On top of that, the Bears only managed 47 total yards on offense - a very disappointing sight for Bears’ fans. Heading into week 4, Chicago will definitely be looking to improve, and against a winless Detroit Lions, they will look to gain confidence for Sunday.
AS NFC North rivals, the Lions and Bears clash twice each season on the field, and now it’s time for the first battle of the 2021 season. When we look at the previous head to head results, it’s the Chicago Bears that have the bragging rights, winning four of their last five encounters with the Lions. With that said, Detroit’s win came in the latest game between the two, coming out as 34-30 winners back in December. However, now both franchises have new starting QBs, everything to do with past results has to be taken with a pinch of salt, as the two have changed since last season.
Our team of betting experts take into consideration plenty of factors and influences when putting together our latest betting tips. So, below, you can find all of the details about the two franchises’ last five head to head encounters.
