Denver Broncos @ Kansas City Chiefs Match Preview
Chiefs by 13-18 · December 6 2020 - 8:20 pm · Arrowhead Stadium
Two NFC West teams go head-to-head on Sunday, when the Kansas City Chiefs welcome Denver Broncos to the Arrowhead Stadium. The Broncos haven’t beaten the Chiefs for 10 straight games, so having an actual quarterback calling the plays this week after recent events is a much-needed boost for Vic Fangio’s team. The Chiefs are currently 10-1 for the season and will be looking to tighten their grip on first place in the division. Read on to see where we think the game could be won and lost and where we think the best betting value can be found!
Mahomes is the Chief of Chiefs
After Covd-19 protocol breaches by Denver quarterbacks saw a rookie wide receiver leading their offense in last week’s defeat to New Orleans Saints, Broncos fans will be relieved that Drew Lock has been back at practice this week. While Kendall Hinton did his best at quarterback last week, he was handed an almost impossible task, and completed just one of nine passes for 13 yards and two interceptions. Lock has tested negative for Covd-19 and should slot in on Sunday.
The Broncos will need him too. The Chiefs extended their winning run to six games with a 27-24 victory at Tampa Bay Buccaneers last week, with quarterback Patrick Mahomes turning in another impressive display. He passed for 462 yards for three touchdowns and no interceptions. All three touchdown passes were caught by wide receiver Tyreek Hill, who made 13 catches for a total of 269 yards.
The Broncos know how to defend against the pass, ranking seventh in the NFL for defending against aerial attacks. The Chiefs rank first in the NFL on offense for the pass, though, and score an average of 31.6 points per game, the second best in the league. The Broncos concede an average of 27.1 points per game, so if Mahomes finds his groove again that losing streak against the Chiefs will almost surely be extended to 11 games.
Our Pick: Chiefs to win by 13-18
Our tip for this game comes from 888Sport, who are offering a price of +375 on the Chiefs to win by 13 to 18 points. We think that Mahomes will pass the Chiefs to another convincing victory. Denver’s offense was humiliated last week thanks to the Covid-19 breaches by its quarterbacks, and it will take some effort to recover. Drew Lock certainly owes his team-mates a good game, but we doubt that his efforts will be enough to beat an awesome Chiefs outfit, who will score plenty of points and win convincingly.
Our pick: Chiefs by 13-18 @ +375 with 888Sport
