It’s all come down to this - it’s Super Bowl LVI! The playoffs have brought football fans a lot of excitement, and now the two conference champions will battle it out at SoFi Stadium for the Lombardi Trophy! The LA Rams will play at their home stadium, with the Cincinnati Bengals traveling to the west coast.
In an extremely exciting & entertaining AFC Championship game, the Cincinnati Bengals caused an upset with a win against Patrick Mahomes & the Kansas City Chiefs. Despite going into the half losing 10-21, the Bengals managed 21 unanswered points to take a late lead in the final minutes of the fourth. The Chiefs kicked a field goal to take it to overtime, before winning the coin toss & receiving the ball. However, Cincinnati stepped up, with an interception approx. 13 seconds into overtime, before moving the ball back down the field. A field goal was all that was needed, and the Bengals are heading to the Super Bowl!
In the game that followed on Sunday evening, the LA Rams went toe-to-toe with their NFC West rivals, the San Francisco 49ers. It was a close matchup, and it was the 49ers that went into the half with a 0-7 lead. However, the Rams mounted a fourth-quarter comeback to win the game 20-17. It was a close encounter, and a very tight contest with both defenses showing up to the Championship game. Rams tight end Tyler Higbee could be in doubt, but with other weapons - on both sides of the ball - the Rams will have plenty of confidence going into Super Bowl LVI.
In an unusual situation, the LA Rams will play Super Bowl LVI on home soil, with SoFi Stadium hosting the 56th annual Super Bowl. Could this be a factor in the most important game of the season? The Bengals will consider themselves underdogs - but it’s certainly worked so far, defeating the No.1 & No.2 seeds in the AFC. It’s going to be a very interesting matchup - we can’t wait!
