Buffalo Bills, currently top of the AFC East, head over to Colorado on Sunday for a game against the Denver Broncos at Mile High. The Bills are going into the game on the back of an impressive win over Pittsburgh Steelers while the Broncos also won, beating the Carolina Panthers. Denver had won only one of their last five games, but their play-off hopes are still alive – just. The Bills’ record is now 10-3 and they will want to win on Sunday to maintain their lead over Miami in the AFC East.
Drew Lock needs some Denver form
One of the key areas to watch in this game is the Bills’ running game. Buffalo has struggled to run the ball all season, but they can focus more on their passing against Denver who will be without three of their top corner backs for this game. Bills quarterback Josh Allen can therefore expect plenty of joy when he looks to combine with receivers Stefon Diggs and Cole Beasley.
Allen’s opposite number on the Broncos, Drew Lock, has a more daunting afternoon in prospect. He has not hit the heights this season, throwing 13 interceptions in 10 games, and has struggled with injury and inconsistency at times. He played well last weekend, though, completing 77.8% of his passes for 280 yards and a career-high four touchdowns. How he and Josh Allen perform on Sunday will be key to determining the outcome of the game.
The running game might be a better option for the Broncos on Sunday, though. Denver has looked at its best this season when running backs Melvin Gordon and Phillip Lindsay play well. Gordon is facing a DUI charge currently, but he will now be available for the rest of the season. The Bills often struggle to defend the run, allowing 119.9 yards on the ground per game and 4.6 yards per attempt.
Our Pick: Buffalo by 7-12
Our tip for this game is that Buffalo will win by seven to 12 points and tighten their grip on first place in the AFC East, and also improve their seeding for the play-offs. 888Sport is offering tempting odds of +400 on the Bills winning by that margin. Buffalo looked impressive last week in that win over Pittsburgh, especially on defense and we think that they will continue their momentum this week. Denver’s mediocre offense means that they will not be able to score sufficient points to trouble the Bills.
Our pick: Buffalo by 7-12 @ +400 with 888Sport
