If you’re a baseball fan and specifically an MLB fan, then you’ll have enjoyed how the recent fixtures have been going. Just when we thought that the top teams had established their winning form, we have begun to witness some of them losing to weak teams, as seen with the Phillies recent loss to the Diamondbacks. That said, we have looked at these stats and come up with our tip for the week.
Today's tip will be based around two top-rated MLB teams, the Braves, and the Giants. They are set to face each other on Sunday at Truist Park in Atlanta. The Giants have been the most consistent team this season in terms of displaying excellent performance, which explains why they’re top of the table.
Braves are not far off. They’re also one of the big threats this season. They sit at position eleven with a winning percentage (PCT) of 0.54. Looking at the whole season, they’ve won 68 games and lost 48 games. As for the Giants, they’ve got a PCT of 0.654 after winning and losing a total of 83 and 44 games, respectively.
After a long winning streak that brought them closer to the top, the Atlanta Braves finally lost 1 - 5 and 4 - 5 at home when they clashed with the Yankees. However, this is not a reflection of the quality that the Braves have. If we look at their last ten games, they’ve only lost twice (to the Yankees).
In those ten games, six went over 8.5. Also, seven of those games ended with one team winning/losing by a margin of two or more runs.
The Giants are back to their best form, as seen with their recent run of wins. Since losing 2 - 6 (Aug 21) and 4 - 1 (Aug 22) to the Mets and Athletics, respectively, the Giants have gone on to win five games in a row. Three of those wins were by a margin of one run.
If you put that aside and look at the totals, you’ll realize that only two of the Giants’ last ten fixtures have gone over 8.5. The Giants also won/lost by two or more runs in five of those fixtures.
Since May 2018, these teams have met 13 times, with the Giants winning only five times. Also, only five of those games ended over 8.5, and nine ended with either team winning by two or more runs.
Although the Giants have been the better team this season, you can’t completely rule out the possibility of the Braves winning this clash. They may have lost their last two games, but that’s just a tiny reflection of the type of team they are.
Both teams have won eight times in their last ten fixtures. If you look at the stats of their last 13 H2H games (since 2018), you find that the Braves have been the better team winning eight times.
With how this season has been going, we should be ready for a good number of surprises. However, we can’t forget the outstanding form the Giants have shown season. Therefore we tip the Giants to win this fixture.
If you’re someone who likes making a bet a little bit spicier, you can add under 8.5 for the totals.
There are a couple of reasons why we’ve tipped the Giants to win and the totals to be under 8.5. Let’s look at some of them.
After comparing various online gambling operators offering odds for this fixture, we settled on BetMGM due to its relatively higher odds. The operator gives odds of 1.95 (-105) for a Giants win and odds of 1.87 (-115) for under 8.5.
