Play-off places are on the line this Sunday at SoFi Stadium when the Los Angeles Rams welcome the Arizona Cardinals to California. Both teams, currently in second and third place in the NFC West, can make the play-offs depending on how the results here and elsewhere turn out. If the Cardinals win then the two teams will have identical records, but Arizona will have the better head-to-record. Things could get complicated when it comes to who claims a play-off spot. Read on to see where you can find some of the game’s best betting value!
Both teams can make the post-season
There is a lot riding on Sunday’s game. That the Cardinals still have a chance of making the play-offs is down to the Rams’ recent poor run of form. Arizona lost to the San Francisco 49ers on Sunday, but their play-off hopes were kept alive by the Rams losing to Seattle Seahawks, a defeat that followed on from a loss to the New York Jets the week before. Sunday is now set up so that the winner of the game automatically makes it into the post-season. If the Cardinals lose then their season is over, but the Rams can still lose and make the play-offs. If LA loses and Chicago Bears lose to the Green Bay Packers then the Rams still make it.
The outcome of the Bears-Packers game will be known by the time that Cardinals and Rams meet. That might work in favor of the Cardinals, as the Rams may well know by then that they can take things a little easier and still make it through. LA will definitely be missing quarterback Jared Goff, who broke his thumb in last week’s game against Seattle. John Wolford, a rookie in his first season who is yet to start an NFL game, will be in Goff’s place. That gives the Cardinals some hope.
Our Pick: Cardinals to win
Our tip for this game is that the Cardinals will win and secure a place in the play-offs. The Rams will be without their first-choice quarterback and we think that this will give Arizona the edge that they need to win the game. 888Sport is offering odds of -104 on the Cardinals winning the game and that looks like pretty good value to us. The Rams have lost their last two games and we think that that run will stretch to a third and they will miss out on a play-off spot.
Our pick: Cardinals @ -104 with 888Sport
