Despite the struggles that Carmelo Anthony has been going through all season with the New York Knicks, his relationship with Jordan Brand is well intact. With the release of his 10th shoe with the sneaker franchise nearly upon us, Jordan Brand is pulling out the stops to commemorate the anniversary. As an elite scorer in the NBA, Anthony joins a small handful of athletes who have celebrated 10th anniversaries with the brand to date. The only others to have done so are Ray Allen and Derek Jeter, respectively.
Now as for the shoe itself, the NBA’s reigning scoring champion has something to be proud of for his signature shoe. Designed by famed designer Tinker Hatfield, who has created some of the most memorable editions of the Air Jordan Franchise, the Melo M10 is a perfect blend of style and performance footwear. Drawing inspiration from past designs as well as the Air Jordan line, the Melo M10 serves as a nod to earlier sneaks for Anthony, while maintaining a modern aesthetic.
In Anthony’s own words:
“If you see this shoe from afar, the chrome statement piece is the first thing you are going to see,” Anthony said of the unique look of the Jordan Melo M10. “Combining that element with my ‘M’ on the toe cap and the very first signature logo we created 10 years ago, we’ve made a true anniversary shoe.”
In the past, Anthony’s shoes have always been hit or miss in the style category. They’ve always been good for playing, but not truly versatile enough to wear for casual purposes. This new design combines the familiar sleekness of the Air Jordan IX with Anthony’s first signature shoe with Jordan Brand, the Melo 1.5. With the various color schemes being announced for the release, you could wear this for all occasions just fine.
The Jordan Melo M10 will be hitting stores for retail on January 4, perfect for folks who are re-upping after their holiday spendings. Check out the gallery of photos below for more on the M10.
Ha, I actually like these, and I haven't said that since ever. Then again it may be because I notice the Air Jordan traits it borrowed from lol.
I just noticed the similarities between the M10 and the AJ10. Nice.
I know two people in the world who both love the Melo shoes to no end. They are also both Knicks fans. I dunno what to make of it.
