Who Believes The NBA Season Will Resume This Month? Not Us!

At the end of July, the NBA season is supposed to resume. Players have already started to arrive in Florida to get ready for games. But we don't believe those games will ever get played. And it's time to admit it.

The major reason is that Florida is the perfect storm for COVID 19. Just this weekend all of the casinos in Miami were shut down. There is no indication at all of when they will reopen. The COVID 19 numbers keep going up. This is mostly due to people being able to go to the beach and bars whenever they want. That keeps it spreading.

It's fairly obvious that more than just casinos in Miami are going to have to close at some point this summer. There are only so many ICU beds and if people keep getting admitted they will have to shut everything down.

Now we are bringing the entire NBA to Disney to play ball. That includes not only the dozens of players but also their coaches, assistant coaches, and various other team supporters. All of them will have to get tested regularly. And that will happen before every game. And if someone tests positive the likelihood of that game being canceled is very high.

Testing has begun

With a little over two weeks to go until the games start testing has already begun. The odds that nobody in the entire entourage that travels with sports teams will test positive is about zero.

Add to that that you can't expect NBA stars to stay inside their hotel rooms. They will go out. They will mingle with people. And some of those people will be COVID 19 carriers. We hate to say it but that's just the odds of how this will play out.

Isolating all of the players together also ensures that as soon as one player comes down with COVID 19 so will a bunch of other players. This will lead to a massive amount of games being blacked out.

The upshot of all of this is that even if the first game gets played they won't complete the season. For all the gamblers out there we hate to say it but it's true. This year for the NBA it's over.
