On Sunday February 12th – at just after 6.30pm in the afternoon – State Farm Stadium will host the biggest, most prestigious and highly anticipated sporting spectacle in the US today. We’re, of course, talking about Super Bowl LVII.
And as much as this is a game of great athleticism, it’s also one which asks many questions. Does Andy Reid really have secret tactics he intends to utilize against his former employer? What’s the fitness status of Patrick Mahomes? And most important of all, what’s our Super Bowl 57 prediction & pick - who will win the big game this year?
After much deliberation – and accepting that this is a game that could fall either way almost as easily as a coin flip – we’ve come to the prediction that we think the Philadelphia Eagles are most likely to win this game.
We will, however, say that this prediction is made with the narrowest of margins.
It’s not just us who view this game to be an immensely close call. There’s only a few points between them across bookies – with the Eagles now considered to be slight favorites ahead of the Chiefs. In fact, so close are these teams in quality, that the odds have already shifted a few times back-and-forth since the Championship games.
The thing which has put the Philadelphia Eagles ahead as likely Super Bowl LVII winners are the predictions of experts and computer models. And, we have to say that we agree.
In our opinion, what gives the Philadelphia Eagles the edge over the Kansas City Chiefs comes down to their versatility in offense and better form in defense. They’ve been successful in multiple styles of offense. For instance, they’re one of the rare teams to go for running the ball more often than they pass, whereas the Chiefs seem a touch more limited. In particular, the Chiefs have also struggled to defend in rushing situations, which are a speciality of the Eagles right now.
This, alongside the gulf between defensive records this season – the Eagles are 0.4% away from being a top five defensive team, while the Kansas City Chiefs come out lower than average – are what we think will have the bigger impact on the results.
That’s why, for us, the answer to the question of our Super Bowl 57 prediction & pick - ‘who will win the big game this year?’ – has to be the Philadelphia Eagles.
However, these two teams are immensely close in quality – so much so that you could view backing either as being an intelligent bet.
Not only do the Kansas City Chiefs have their track record and all around playing quality going for them, but this should also be the first time we’ve seen them at close to the peak of their powers for some time. Patrick Mahomes’ ankle injury is reportedly healing well. And considering his heroic one-legged performance against Cincinnati, he can be a game-changer in this contest.
Furthermore, Kansas has a little bit of history on their side. When the Eagles and the Chiefs last met in week 4 of the 2021 season, the latter won 42-30. It’s also worth pointing out that Mahomes also had a starring role, completing six touchdown passes.
Again, it’s an immensely close game to call, with many multi-faceted arguments for both. However, there are further counterpoints to these considerations.
Jalen Hurts is just as big a threat as any quarterback in American football right now. And while the previous win over the Eagles may give the Chiefs a psychological edge and prove the effectiveness of Mahomes, both teams have drastically changed since then. In fact, not one of the TDs scored from Mahomes’ touchdown passes in their last meeting were completed by a player still on the team.
Put simply, we think the Eagles’ advantages far outweigh those enjoyed by the Kansas City Chiefs.
Ultimately, the success of your bet comes down to whether your predictions are correct. It, therefore, makes sense to do everything you can to make them as accurate and as well-considered as possible. Here’s are a few simple things to keep in mind:
If your team is in this final, then it may be hard to make a purely reasoned prediction. There are, however, plenty of markets – such as over/under points markets – which allow you to make a wager without predicting a winner. These could be perfect for your predicament.
This is a dramatic final, with a battle of star quarterbacks – the showdown between the Kelce brothers and Andy Reid – taking on a former employer. Interestingly though, this may mean it’s best to keep a cool head and focus on the facts.
The Super Bowl markets come with plenty of great offers that are well worth checking out and taking advantage of, with extremely competitive odds. It pays to shop around and see which bookmakers can offer you the best deal.
Due to the ultra-competitive nature of this final, either team could emerge victorious from Super Bowl 57. Whichever team you choose to back – our prediction aside – both wagers have a lot of credibility. And not only could both teams be a winner, but if we utilize these markets to enhance our enjoyment, then whatever the result, we’ll all come away winners as American Football fans.
While we don’t have a crystal ball and can’t say with certainty who will win Super Bowl LVII – especially when you consider just how close in ability the Philadelphia Eagles and the Kansas City Chiefs are – we do have a prediction on who we think is most likely to win.
