We have 12 DFS baseball games today with several early afternoon games to choose players from. Keep an eye out for players that have just been acquired by new teams at the trading deadline as they should see a nice bump in production.
Here are today's picks:
New York Mets @ Miami Marlins 12:10 PM ET
Hill (6-4) vs Garrett (1-1)
Braxton Garrett was outstanding in his last game going 7 innings with 1 run and 10 strikeouts. Rich Hill has pitched well since his trade to the Mets. I like this one to be low-scoring.
Pick: Under
Daily Fantasy picks:
Pete Alonso (1B)
Javy Baez (SS)
Jesus Aguilar (1B)
Lewis Brinson (OF)
Boston Red Sox @ Detroit Tigers 1:10 PM ET
Perez (7-7) vs Skubal (6-10)
Martin Perez can’t be trusted as he has only pitched into the 6th inning once in the last two months. The Red Sox should be able to get to Skubal too. This one should see a good amount of runs.
Pick: Over
Daily Fantasy picks:
Kike Hernandez (2B/OF)
JD Martinez (OF)
Miguel Cabrera (1B)
Eric Haase (C/OF)
Los Angeles Angels @ Texas Rangers 2:05 PM ET
Bundy (1-8) vs Howard (0-2)
Spencer Howard is making his debut for the Rangers since his recent trade from the Phillies. The former top prospect could use a change of scenery as he never lived up to expectations in Philadelphia. For the Angels, Bundy is having a dismal season and should not be counted on. Take the over.
Pick: Over
Daily Fantasy picks:
David Fletcher (2B/OF)
Max Stassi (C)
Justin Upton (OF)
Isiah Kiner-Falefa (C/3B)
Brock Holt (2B/OF)
Chicago Cubs @ Colorado Rockies 3:10 PM ET
Arrieta (5-10) vs Senzatela (2-8)
The Cubs won a surprisingly low-scoring game last night in Colorado, but a midday game in the Mile High City should bode well for some run support, as both these pitchers give up a lot of runs. I think the Rockies take the rubber match.
Pick: Rockies -1.5, Over
Daily Fantasy picks:
Ian Happ (2B/OF)
Patrick Wisdom (1B)
Sam Hilliard (OF)
Brendan Rodgers (2B)
San Francisco Giants @ Arizona D-Backs 3:40 PM ET
Wood (9-3) vs Kelly (7-8)
Merrill Kelly has a good track record against the Giants but I don’t think it’ll be enough to split the series in Arizona.
Pick: Giants -1.5
Daily Fantasy picks:
Brandon Crawford (SS)
Buster Posey (C/1B)
Ketel Marte (2B/OF)
Christian Walker (1B)
Philadelphia Phillies @ Washington Nationals 4:05 PM ET
Nola (7-6) vs Ross (5-9)
Joe Ross has had a nice season for the Nationals but Aaron Nola has been too good since his return from the IL and the Phillies just have the far superior lineup now.
Pick: Phillies -1.5
Daily Fantasy picks:
Bryce Harper (OF)
Jean Segura (SS)
Victor Robles (OF)
Seattle Mariners @New York Yankees 7:05 PM ET
Anderson (5-8) vs Cortes (0-0)
Nestor Cortes was great in his major league debut for the Yankees while Tyler Anderson had a forgettable debut for the Mariners after his trade over from the Pirates. Yankees bats are heating up, I think they get to Anderson early.
Pick: Yankees -1.5
Daily Fantasy picks:
Mitch Haniger (OF)
Ty France (2B)
Anthony Rizzo (1B)
Joey Gallo (OF)
Cleveland Indians @ Toronto Blue Jays 7:07 PM ET
McKenzie (1-4) vs Stripling (4-6)
This matchup is just too difficult to backup the rookie Tristan McKenzie. He has shown flashes of why he’s such a highly rated prospect. But pitching in Toronto and against this lineup is too risky to back. I like the Blue Jays easily.
Pick: Blue Jays -1.5
Daily Fantasy picks:
Frammil Reyes (OF)
Teoscar Hernandez (OF)
George Springer (OF)
Marcus Semien (2B/SS)
Pittsburgh Pirates @ Cincinnati Reds 7:10 PM ET
Crowe (3-5) vs Gray (3-6)
Sonny Gray was great his last outing and should keep that going against the league’s worst offense. Crowe has pitched much better his last two outings, but it will be tough to make it a third in Cincinnati.
Pick: Reds -1.5
Daily Fantasy picks:
Kevin Newman (2B/SS)
Bryan Reynolds (OF)
Jonathan India (2B/3B)
Joey Votto (1B)
Minnesota Twins @ Houston Astros 8:10 PM ET
Jax (1-1) vs Valdez (7-2)
Rookie Griffin Jax earned another start after his first MLB start went very well. However, pitching in Houston against this lineup is always tough. On the flip side, the Astros could be slow to start after making a late night/early morning return home after a long road trip.
Pick: Under
Daily Fantasy picks:
Josh Donaldson (3B)
Jorge Polanco (SS)
Jose Altuve (2B)
Kyle Tucker (OF)
Kansas City Royals @ Chicago White Sox 8:10 PM ET
Lynch (1-3) vs Keuchel (7-4)
Rookie Daniel Lynch has been solid his last 3 outings for the Royals but the Royals don’t hit lefties well, so that in itself is a lot to ask of Lynch to carry them on the road. I think the White Sox take this one in a tight game.
Pick: White Sox Win
Daily Fantasy picks:
Whit Merrifield 2B)
Tim Anderson (SS)
Andrew Vaughn (1B/UTIL)
Atlanta Braves @ St Louis Cardinals 8:15 PM ET
Toussaint (1-2) vs LeBlanc (0-2)
In Touki Toussaint’s last start he was rocked for 7 runs in 3 innings. The Cardinals have good smart hitters who can get to the rookie early as well. I don’t know if Wade LeBlanc can contain this Braves lineup right now though, so expect some runs in this one.
Pick: Over
Daily Fantasy picks:
Austin Riley (3B)
Jorge Soler (OF)
Dansby Swanson (SS)
Nolan Arenado (3B)
Paul Goldschmidt (1B)
Daily Fantasy Lineup:
P: Sonny Gray $9,300
C/1B: Paul Goldschmidt $3,800
2B: Whit Merrifield $3,100
3B: Austin Riley $3,500
SS: Jack Mayfield $2,500
OF: Bryan Reynolds $3,200
OF: Jorge Soler $3,300
OF: Andrew Vaughn $2,800
UTIL: Jorge Polanco $3,500
