Happy Wednesday Baseball Fans,
Below are the DFS picks for today. Be on the lookout for value from players that were recently traded to contending teams. Typically players see a nice boost in productivity when the playoffs become a reality!
Cleveland Indians @ Toronto Blue Jays 7:07 PM ET
Mejia (1-6) vs Matz (8-6)
The Jays are starting to hit their stride and George Springer is on a bit of a leadoff homerun tear. Not a good spot for the Indians behind JC Mejia.
Pick: Blue Jays -1.5
Daily Fantasy picks:
Frammil Reyes (OF)
George Springer (OF)
Teoscar Hernadez (OF)
Marcus Semien (2B/SS)
Philadelphia Phillies @ Washington Nationals 7:05 PM ET
Anderson (2-2) vs Espino (3-2)
Not an exciting pitching matchup at all, so there should be some runs in this one. I like the home team a bit more as they will go with an opener/bullpen game. Taking the Nats.
Pick: Nationals Win
Daily Fantasy picks:
Didi Gregorius (SS)
Odubel Herrera (OF)
Rhys Hoskins (1B)
Victor Robles (OF)
Baltimore Orioles @ New York Yankees 7:05 PM ET
Harvey (6-10) vs Taillon (7-4)
A surprisingly good pitching matchup here as both starters have been great the last month. Matt Harvey is riding an 18 inning scoreless streak while Jameson Taillon has won 6 of his last 7 starts. This could be a low scoring game in the Bronx. Backing the home team.
Pick: Yankees Win, under
Daily Fantasy picks:
Ryan Mountcastle (3B)
Cedric Mullins (OF)
Giancarlo Stanton (OF)
Gleyber Torres (2B/SS)
DJ LeMahieu (2B)
Boston Red Sox @ Detroit Tigers 7:10 PM ET
Rodriguez (7-6) vs Mize (6-5)
This is a tough one to pick due to the unknowing leash on Casey Mize. He’s been going 4-5 innings to conserve his innings yet last start he was so efficient that he went 7. I like this to be a back and forth game and will take the Tigers.
Pick: Tigers
Daily Fantasy picks:
Xander Bogaerts (SS)
Jarren Duran (OF)
Miguel Cabrera (1B)
Eric Haase (C/OF)
Seattle Mariners @ Tampa Bay Rays 1:10 PM ET
Gilbert (5-2) vs Fleming (8-5)
Both pitchers are pitching well lately and should keep the scoring low for a second straight game. The Mariners are playing good baseball right now but the Rays are too tough at home to lose a second straight game.
Pick: Rays Win, under
Daily Fantasy picks:
Ty France (2B)
Nelson Cruz (UTIL)
Abraham Toro (2B/3B)
Brandon Lowe (2B/OF)
Minnesota Twins @ Cincinnati Reds 12:35 PM ET
Barnes (0-1) vs Castillo (5-10)
The Reds blew the first game of this series by giving up a 9th inning homerun to Jorge Polanco and Luis Castillo was rocked for 8 runs his last start. I can see a lot of runs in this one and will slightly lean with the home team Reds.
Pick: Reds Win
Daily Fantasy picks:
Jorge Polcano (SS)
Jonathan India (2B/3B)
Joey Votto (1B)
Jesse Winker (OF)
New York Mets @ Miami Marlins 7:10 PM ET
Carrasco (0-0) vs Thompson (2-4)
Carlos Carrasco pitched well in his Mets debut while Zach Thompson has been a nice surprise for the Marlins. Thompson however has not lasted more than 5 innings in each of his last 3 starts. I’m taking the Mets to get Carrasco his first win as a Met.
Pick: Mets Win
Daily Fantasy picks:
Miguel Rojas (SS)
Javy Baez (SS)
Jesus Aguilar (1B)
Lewis Brinson (OF)
Los Angeles Angels @ Texas Rangers 8:05 PM ET
Ohtani (5-1) vs Allard (2-9)
The Angels should roll here for a second straight night and behind starting pitcher Shohei Ohtani, who is a recommended fantasy starting pitcher play. Allard will only pitch a few innings max before it’s turned over to their subpar bullpen.
Pick: Angels -1.5
Daily Fantasy picks:
David Fletcher (2B/OF)
Shohei Ohtani (SP)
Max Stassi (C)
Jack Mayfield (SS)
Kansas City Royals @ Chicago White Sox 8:10 PM ET
Hernandez (2-1) vs Giolito (8-7)
Simply taking the much better pitcher and bullpen here against the Royals who have now lost 4 straight. Hernandez usually goes one time through the order before turning it over to the bullpen, which should bode well for the White Sox.
Pick: White Sox -1.5
Daily Fantasy picks:
Andrew Benintendi (OF)
Hunter Dozier (1B/OF)
Tim Anderson (SS)
Andrew Vaughn (1B/UTIL)
Pittsburgh Pirates @ Milwaukee Brewers 2:10 PM ET
Brault (0-0) vs Peralta (8-3)
Well the Pirates stunned the Brewers last night, after being down 5-0 early, they put up 5 in the 7th then 3 in the 10th to win 8-5. I can’t see that happening again, especially in Steven Braults return from the injured list. Plus Freddy Peralta hasn’t given up more than 3 runs in a start since May 5th.
Pick: Brewers -1.5
Daily Fantasy picks:
Gregory Polanco (OF)
Kevin Newman (SS)
Willy Adames (SS)
Kolten Wong (2B)
Atlanta Braves @ St Louis Cardinals 8:15 PM ET
Smyly (7-3) vs Happ (5-6)
Drew Smyly doesn’t pitch deep enough into games to trust him and JA Happ has been scorched this season. Hard to choose so I’m taking the over.
Pick: Over
Daily Fantasy picks:
Adam Duvall (OF)
Austin Riley (3B)
Dansby Swanson (SS)
Nolan Arenado (3B)
Dylan Carlson (OF)
Chicago Cubs @ Colorado Rockies 8:40 PM ET
Mills (4-4) vs Gray (7-6)
Keeping this one simple, the Rockies are very good at home and the Cubs are very bad on the road. Jon Gray stayed in Colorado during the trade deadline, and I think being home for this start gives them an extra boost. Taking the Rockies again.
Pick: Rockies -1.5
Daily Fantasy picks:
Patrick Wisdom (1B)
Elias Diaz (C)
Ramiel Tapia (OF)
Ryan McMahon (2B/3B)
San Diego Padres @ Oakland Athletics 9:40 PM ET
Musgrove (7-7) vs Montas (9-8)
The Padres really swung it against the A’s right out the gate with a leadoff homerun from Tommy Pham. Both pitchers have been outstanding the last month. Being that Musgrove isn’t as good on the road as he is at home, I’ll take the A’s to win and split the series.
Pick: A’s Win
Jake Cronenworth (2B)
Trent Grisham (OF)
Matt Chapman (3B)
Matt Olson (1B)
San Francisco Giants @ Arizona D-Backs 9:40 PM ET
Gausman (9-5) vs Gallen (1-5)
Madison Bumgarner dominated his former team last night, holding the Giants to just 1 run. This games should be a lot different. Kevin Gausman hasn’t last more than 4 innings in each of his last 3 starts, and Zach Gallen has been too off and on to trust. I’ll take the over and the better team in general.
Pick: Giants win, over
Daily Fantasy picks:
Asdrubal Cabrera (2B/SS)
Kris Bryant (3B/OF)
Thairo Estrada (2B/SS)
Houston Astros @ Los Angeles Dodgers 9:40 PM ET
Odorizzi (4-5) Scherzer (8-4)
The first game was a low scoring one as expected, with the Astro’s taking the first game 3-0. The Dodgers can’t let this team sweep this mini series and being that it’s Max Scherzers Dodger debut, go with the Dodgers to even this series at home.
Pick: Dodger’s Win
Daily Fantasy picks:
Jose Altuve (2B)
Mookie Betts (OF)
Max Scherzer (SP)
Chris Taylor (2B/OF)
Justin Turner (3B)
Daily Fantasy Lineup:
P: Shohei Ohtani $10,700
C/1B: Andrew Vaughn $2,800
2B: Jonathan India $3,000
3B: Austin Riley $3,500
SS: Jack Mayfield $2,500
OF: Adam Duvall $3,200
OF: Hunter Dozier $2,500
OF: Giancarlo Stanton $3,400
UTIL: Jorge Polanco $3,400
