MLB Review: 08/31/2021 – Daily Fantasy Player Notes and Picks
A full set of games is being played on Tuesday with more battles of first place teams going on in both San Francisco and Los Angeles. The game of the day is definitely in LA where the Braves look to even the series against Walker Buehler and the Dodgers. The Dodgers meanwhile look to gain another game on the Giants as they take on the first place Brewers.
Daily Fantasy Lineup:
P: Lucas Giolito $10200
C/1B: Luke Voit $3200
2B: Nick Solak $2700
3B: Josh Donaldson $3200
SS: Trevor Story $3400
OF: Brandon Lowe $3600
OF: Andrew McCutchen $2700
OF: Tyler O’Neill $3000
UTIL: Miguel Cabrera $3000
St Louis Cardinals @ Cincinnati Reds 6:40 PM ET
Mikolas (0-1) vs Gray (6-6)
The Cardinals took game one of this series as both teams look to keep pace for a wild card spot. Look for the Reds to bounce back and take game 2.
Pick: Reds
Daily Fantasy picks:
Tyler O’Neill (OF)
Paul Goldschmidt (1B)
Nick Castellanos (OF)
Jonathan India (2B/3B)
Philadelphia Phillies @ Washington Nationals 7:05 PM ET
Moore (2-4) vs Corbin (7-13)
This game should see a lot of runs as both starting pitchers have been rocked lately. Both offenses should have no trouble hitting these lefties.
Pick: Over
Daily Fantasy picks:
Andrew McCutchen (OF)
Odubel Herrera (OF)
Juan Soto (OF)
Victor Robles (OF)
Baltimore Orioles @ Toronto Blue Jays 7:07 PM ET
Akin (1-8) vs Ryu (12-7)
The Jays have now won 3 straight and are in a great spot to continue to win to keep their playoff hopes alive as they face the leagues worst Orioles in Toronto.
Pick: Blue Jays -1.5
Daily Fantasy picks:
Ryan Mountcastle (1B/OF)
Anthony Santander (OF)
Teoscar Hernandez (OF)
Marcus Semien (2B)
Oakland A’s @ Detroit Tigers 2:10 PM ET
Irvin (9-12) vs Skubal (8-11)
After the A’s losing skid they came back to win the last two games at home against the red hot Yankees before their day off. I think that boosts this team to a good stretch of games, starting today in Detroit.
Pick: A’s
Daily Fantasy picks:
Matt Chapman (OF)
Sean Murphy (C)
Miguel Cabrera (1B/UTIL)
Boston Red Rox @ Tampa Bay Rays 7:10 PM ET
TBD vs (Yarbrough)
The Ray’s won game 1 of this series and continue to stay hot, winning 8 straight at 9 of 10. Expect the same today.
Pick: Rays
Daily Fantasy picks:
Xander Bogaerts (SS)
JD Martinez (OF/UTIL)
Brandon Lowe (2B/OF)
Austin Meadows (OF)
Miami Marlins @ New York Mets 7:10 PM ET
TBD vs Williams (4-2)
With all the problems going on in New York between its players and its fans, the Mets better win this game, or this season will not only be a disaster but also an embarrassment.
Pick: Mets
Daily Fantasy picks:
Jesus Aguilar (1B)
Lewis Brinson (OF)
Pete Alonso (1B)
Javy Baez (2B/SS)
Colorado Rockies @ Texas Rangers 8:05 PM ET
Gomber (9-8) vs Lyles (6-11)
Austin Gomber had a nice start to his season but has really struggled lately, losing 3 straight starts with an ERA over 6. Lyles hasn’t been much better, so expect a good amount of runs in this one.
Pick: Over
Daily Fantasy picks:
CJ Cron (1B)
Trevor Story (SS)
Adolis Garcia (OF)
Nick Solak (2B/OF)
Cleveland Indians @ Kansas City Royals 8:10 PM ET
Plesac (8-4) vs TBD
Both of these teams are playing solid baseball right now, especially the surprising Royals who have won 7 of 10 and those wins coming against some of the league’s best teams. That said, without a starter named today, I like the Indians.
Pick: Indians
Daily Fantasy picks:
Jose Ramirez (3B)
Frammil Reyes (OF)
Salvador Perez (C)
Whitt Merrifield (2B)
Chicago Cubs @ Minnesota Twins 8:10 PM ET
Davies (6-10) vs Gant (4-8)
Another underwhelming pitching matchup against two struggling teams. The only thing I like about this one is the potential for offense. The twins have been hitting for power over the last month as one of the league leading homerun teams in August.
Pick: Twins/Over
Daily Fantasy picks:
Patrick Wisdom (3B)
Jorge Polanco (SS)
Josh Donaldson (3B)
Pittsburgh Pirates @ Chicago White Sox 8:10 PM ET
Wilson (2-5) vs Giolito (9-9)
I’m not going to overthink this, take the first White Sox at home behind their Ace against the NL Central’s worst team.
Pick: White Sox -1.5
Daily Fantasy picks:
Ke’Bryan Hayes (3B)
Lucas Giolito (SP)
Tim Anderson (SS)
Eloy Jimenez (OF)
New York Yankees @ Los Angeles Angels 9:38 PM ET
Taillon (8-4) vs Barria (2-2)
The Yankees have now lost 3 straight after winning 15 straight. Today should get them back on track with a win behind one of their most consistent starters.
Pick: Yankees -1.5
Daily Fantasy picks:
Aaron Judge (OF)
Luke Voit (1B)
Giancarlo Stanton (OF)
Jack Mayfield (SS)
San Diego Padres @ Arizona D-Backs 9:40 PM ET
Snell (6-5) vs Gallen (2-7)
Blake Snell is coming off his best start of the season and his longest outing of his career. I think he builds off that to help the Padres win a second game in a row in Arizona.
Pick: Padres -1.5
Daily Fantasy picks:
Manny Machado (3B)
Trent Grisham (OF)
Blake Snell (SP)
Ketel Marte (2B/OF)
Milwaukee Brewers @ San Francisco Giants 9:45 PM ET
Woodruff (8-7) vs TBD
The Brewers and Corbin Burnes shutdown SF yesterday and look to do so again today behind their other Ace, Brandon Woodruff. The Giants have been hit by injuries to their starting rotation the last day and are currently without a starting pitcher for this game.
Pick: Brewers
Daily Fantasy picks:
Brandon Woodruff (SP)
Christian Yelich (OF)
Brandon Belt (1B)
Brandon Crawford (SS)
Houston Astros @ Seattle Mariners 10:10 PM ET
McCullers (10-4) vs Kikuchi (7-7)
The Astro’s won a close game 1 and now have their Ace pitching today against struggling Yusei Kikuchi. I expect the Astro’s to win game two easily.
Pick: Astro’s -1.5
Daily Fantasy picks:
Alex Bregman (3B)
Carlos Correa (SS)
Mitch Haniger (OF)
Ty France (1B)
Atlanta Braves @ Los Angeles Dodgers 10:10 PM ET
Morton (12-5) vs Buehler (13-2)
This is both the pitching matchup and game of the day as the Braves have their Ace taking on the NL Cy Young Leading Candidate in Walker Buehler. Buehler has been untouchable at home. Charlie Morton is always tough in big games.
Pick: Dodgers/Under
Daily Fantasy picks:
Charlie Morton (SP)
Freddie Freeman (1B)
Walker Buehler (SP)
Corey Seager (SS)
