FanDuel NY: Legal or not?

NY sports betting is alive and kicking - and what a ride it’s been already. 

The launch day took place on Saturday, January 8 and was a massive success, with millions of New Yorkers signing up to wager on the final weekend of the regular NFL season - plus other sports, of course.

After a long wait, everything moved pretty quickly, as the four sports betting operators that launched on January 8 were only given the green light to do so just a couple of days beforehand.

Prior to the legalization of mobile and online sports betting in the Empire State, New York residents had to cross state lines into New Jersey in order to legally place an online wager. Fortunately, those days are now over.

One of the most popular NJ sportsbooks for New York players was FanDuel - and so we imagine most of you will be dying to know if this great American fantasy sports and gambling brand is now legally allowed to operate in the state of New York.

So is FanDuel legal in New York City?

To give you a straight answer - yes it is! 

In fact, not only is FanDuel available in NYC - it’s also available throughout the entire state. From NYC, to Rochester and Buffalo, you can now legally register a FanDuel Sportsbook account and place a bet from your mobile phone or laptop - provided you’re over 21 of course.

And it gets better - if you’re one of the many New Yorkers has already created a FanDuel account in New Jersey, you don’t even have to go through the hassle of creating a new account. FanDuel legally permits its account holders to place bets from inside the borders of all US gambling states in which they operate.

Now that FanDuel sportsbook NY has officially launched, you can now place a bet with FanDuel in a total of 11 US states, including New Jersey, Pennsylvania, Colorado and Virginia.
