The weekend kicks off with almost a full slate of games. Some intriguing inter-division matchups on the board especially in the AL and NL West. The games to watch are the Reds vs Phillies due to its pitching matchup and Cardinals vs Royals because of Jack Flaherty’s return.
P: Charlie Morton $9,000
C/1B: Salvador Perez $3,200
2B: Ketel Marte $3,500
3B: Jemeir Candelario $2,900
SS: Willy Adames $3,300
OF: Cedric Mullins $3,500
OF: Anthony Santander $3,000
OF: Cody Bellinger $3,200
UTIL: Austin Riley $3,400
Los Angeles Dodgers @ New York Mets 7:10 PM ET
Urias (13-3) vs Megill (1-2)
The Dodgers come in having won 7 of 10 while the Mets have won 3 straight after a walk off win last night. The Mets struggle vs lefties and the Dodgers are coming in after a day off. Taking the Dodgers.
Pick: Dodgers -1.5
Daily Fantasy picks:
Treat Turner (2B/SS)
Cody Bellinger (OF)
Will Smith (C)
Pete Alonso (1B)
Cincinnati Reds @ Philadelphia Phillies 7:05 PM ET
Mahle (9-3) vs Wheeler (10-6)
This a great pitching matchup and what should be a great game with each of these teams playing great baseball right now. Tyler Mahle has been excellent on the road while Zack Wheeler has been great at home. I think the safe bet is the under.
Pick: Under
Daily Fantasy picks:
Jonathan India (2B/3B)
Kyle Farmer (C/1B/2B)
Alec Bohm (3B)
Didi Gregorious (SS)
Atlanta Braves vs Washington Nationals 7:05 PM ET
Morton (10-4) vs TBD
The Nationals haven’t named their starter, but I’m not sure it’ll matter against Charlie Morton and the Braves. Braves should roll and Morton should mow down this new Nat’s lineup.
Pick: Braves -1.5
Daily Fantasy picks:
Charlie Morton (SP)
Ozzie Albies (2B)
Austin Riley (3B)
Victor Robles (OF)
Milwaukee Brewers @ Pittsburgh Pirates 7:05 PM ET
Anderson (4-5) vs Keller (3-9)
The Brewers are the much better team in this one obviously, but the pitching matchup is not great, so this game could go either way and should see a good number of runs.
Pick: Over
Daily Fantasy picks:
Willy Adames (SS)
Christian Yelich (OF)
Luis Urias (2B/3B)
Chris Moran (3B)
Baltimore Orioles @ Boston Red Sox 7:10 PM ET
Watkins (2-3) vs Pivetta (8-5)
Both teams have been having a rough second half and ugly last 10 games as these teams have combined for just 4 wins in their last 20 games. Somethings got to give, yet this pitching matchup is awful, meaning this game should see plenty of runs. I’ll take the Red Sox at home.
Pick: Red Sox -1.5, Over
Daily Fantasy picks:
Cedric Mullins (OF)
Anthony Santander (OF)
Xander Bogaerts (SS)
Kike Hernandez (2B)
Cleveland Indians @ Detroit Tigers 7:10 PM ET
Plesac (6-4) vs Alexander (2-1)
The Indians were just swept and crushed by the A’s while the Tigers have won 3 straight and 7 of 10. Being that they are back home, and the Indians are on the road, I’ll take the Tigers in this one. Miguel Cabrera is sitting on 499 homeruns, and being that Plesac is homerun prone, look for Miggy to get his 500th.
Pick: Tigers Win
Daily Fantasy picks:
Frammil Reyes (OF)
Miguel Cabrera (UTIL)
Robbie Grossman (OF)
Jeimer Candelario (3B)
Chicago Cubs @ Miami Marlins 7:10 PM ET
Alzolay (4-12) vs Luzardo (3-5)
A game between two pitchers who give up a lot of runs and two teams looking forward to the offseason. Considering the Cubs have now lost 8 straight and head on the road to a rested Marlins team, take the Marlins at home.
Pick: Marlins Win
Daily Fantasy picks:
Patrick Wisdom (3B)
Jesus Aguilar (1B)
Lewis Brinson (OF)
Oakland Athletics @ Texas Rangers 8:05 PM ET
Irvin (8-10) vs Dunning (5-7)
The A’s have won 7 straight and are coming off a 17-0 win. The Rangers have won just 2 of 10 and have been dominated by the A’s and Cole Irvin this season. A’s cruise.
Pick: A’s -1.5
Daily Fantasy picks:
Cole Irvin (SP)
Jed Lowrie (2B)
Sean Murphy (C)
Adolis Garcia (OF)
St Louis Cardinals @ Kansas City Royals 8:10 PM ET
Flaherty (8-1) vs Minor (8-10)
Jack Flaherty makes his return after a long-Injured List stay due to a sore oblique. Mike Minor has pitched solid his last 5 starts but given he’s a good bet to give up 4+ runs, take the Cardinals in Flahrety’s return.
Pick: Cardinals -1.5
Daily Fantasy picks:
Harrison Bader (OF)
Dylan Carlson (OF)
Paul Goldschmidt (1B)
Salvador Perez (C)
Tampa Bay Rays @ Minnesota Twins 8:10 PM ET
McClanahan (6-4) vs Pineda (4-7)
Shane Mclanahan has won 2 straight starts and has not given up more than 3 runs in a start since June 2nd. Given the Twins struggles, especially vs lefties, take the Rays.
Pick: Rays -1.5
Daily Fantasy picks:
Brandon Lowe (2B/OF)
Wander Franco (SS)
Nelson Cruz (UTIL)
Jorge Polanco (SS)
Houston Astros @ Los Angeles Angels 9:38 PM ET
Greinke (10-3) vs Sandoval (3-5)
Patrick Sandoval has pitched great his last 3 outings but also struggles vs the Astros while Zack Greinke has dominated the Angels this season. Astros won’t lose a second game in a row to the Angels.
Pick: Astro’s -1.5
Daily Fantasy picks:
Jose Altuve (2B)
Carlos Correa (SS)
Zack Greinke (SP)
David Fletcher (2B/OF)
San Diego Padres @ Arizona D-backs 9:40 PM ET
Snell (6-4) vs Bumgarner (6-7)
It’s hard to pick against the Padres versus the leagues worst team in the D-backs, but Snell has been awful on the road while Bumgarner has been outstanding for the last month. D-backs take the second game in a row as underdogs.
Pick: D-Backs Win
Daily Fantasy picks:
Trent Grisham (OF)
Manny Machado (3B)
Migeul Rojas (SS)
Ketel Marta (2B/OF)
Colorado Rockies vs San Francisco Giants 9:45 PM ET
Gomber (9-6) vs DeSclafani (10-5)
The leagues worst road team in the Rockies against the leagues best overall team Giants, this should be another cakewalk for the Giants as they continue their very impressive season and winners of 5 straight.
Pick: Giants -1.5
Daily Fantasy picks:
Connor Joe (1B/OF)
Sam Hilliard (OF)
Kris Bryant (3B)
Buster Posey (C/1B)
Toronto Blue Jays vs Seattle Mariners 10:10 PM ET
Ray (9-5) vs Flexen (10-5)
This game could go either way as Robbie Ray has struggled on the road while Chris Flexen has been great at home. The Blue Jays have the much better lineup, one of baseballs best, but the Mariners could shut them down at home. I’m going to take the underdog Mariners in this one.
Pick: Mariners Win
Daily Fantasy picks:
George Springer (OF)
Marcus Semien (SS)
Mitch Haniger (OF)
