Today’s headline is clearly one of sports best rivalries between the Boston Red Sox and New York Yankees as the teams square off in a Bronx double-header. Also, worth checking in on is to see if both the Orioles and Cubs can stop their losing streak, each currently at 12 games each.
Daily Fantasy Lineup:
P: Alex Manoah $9900
C/1B: Max Muncy $3600
2B: Brandon Lowe $3600
3B: Wilmer Flores $3000
SS: Jack Mayfield $2400
OF: Lewis Brinson $3200
OF: Cedric Mullins $3200
OF: Lamonte Wade Jr $3300
UTIL: Max Stassi $2800
Boston Red Sox @ New York Yankees 1:05 PM ET
Houck (0-3) vs Montgomery (4-5)
One of baseballs all time best rivalry’s kicks off with Boston’s promising rookie starter Tanner Houck against Jordan Montgomery who is making his first start since his return from the COVID 19 list. Houck has been outstanding but is still searching for his first MLB win. I am leaning towards the Red Sox in this one in a short 7 inning game 1 of this doubleheader.
Pick: Red Sox Win
Daily Fantasy picks:
Kike Hernandez (2B/OF)
Xander Bogaerts (SS)
DJ LeMahieu (1B/2B)
Lucas Voit (1B)
Boston Red Sox @ New York Yankees 7:05 PM ET
Eovaldi (10-7) vs Gil (1-0)
Nathan Eovaldi has struggled against the Yankees this year while rookie Luis Gil is yet to give up a run in his two starts. I like those trends to continue with the Yankees winning the second half of the double header.
Pick: Yankees -1.5
Daily Fantasy picks:
JD Martinez (UTIL)
Hunter Renfroe (OF)
Aaron Judge (OF)
Brett Gardner (OF)
Toronto Blue Jays @ Washington Nationals 7:05 PM ET
Manoah (5-1) vs Fedde (4-8)Rookie Alex Manoah has been outstanding for the Blue Jays and today’s start should be a cruise as well as the Nat’s lineup is depleted besides Juan Soto. It’s also an extremely tough task for Fedde to face this daunting Blue Jays lineup.
Pick: Blue Jays -1.5
Daily Fantasy Picks:
Teoscar Hernandez (OF)
Randall Grichuck (OF)
Marcus Semien (2B/SS)
Chicago Cubs @ Cincinnati Reds 7:10 PM ET
Hendricks (13-5) vs Gutierrez (8-3)
The Cubs have now lost 12 straight and would hope to turn to their best starter to end that, however, Kyle Hendricks was crushed last start while Vladimir Gutierrez continues his strong rookie season. Reds win again.
Pick: Reds -1.5
Daily Fantasy picks:
Frank Schwindel (1B)
Vladimir Gutierrez (SP)
Jonathan India (2B/3B)
Jesse Winker (OF)
Los Angeles Angels @ Detroit Tigers 7:10 PM ET
Bundy (2-9) vs Mize (6-6)
Dylan Bundy still can’t be trusted, and Casey Mize is still on an innings limit. Both starters won’t go more than 5 innings, so this will come down to the bullpens, both of which aren’t good. Taking the over.
Pick: Over
Daily Fantasy picks:
Jack Mayfield (SS)
Max Stassi (C)
Robbie Grossman (OF)
Jonathan Schoop (1B/2B)
Baltimore Orioles @ Tampa Bay Rays 7:10 PM ET
Means (5-4) vs Rasmussen (1-1)
The Orioles have lost 12 straight and hope their best pitcher can get them a win. However, Jon Means has struggled the second half and faces a tough task going into Tampa Bay. This is a bullpen game for the Ray’s, and with their strong bullpen, they should make it 13 straight losses for the O’s.
Pick: Rays -1.5
Daily Fantasy picks:
Cedric Mullins (OF)
Trey Mancini (1B/OF)
Wander Franco (SS)
Brandon Lowe (2B/OF)
Atlanta Braves @ Miami Marlins 7:10 PM ET
Ynoa (4-2) vs Alcantara (7-10)
The Braves are on a tear right now having won 4 straight and putting up big offensive numbers. Alcantara is solid for the Marlins but this Braves offense is too good right now.
Pick: Braves-1.5
Daily Fantasy picks:
Ozzie Albies (2B)
Dansby Swanson (SS)
Austin Riley (3B)
Lewis Brinson (OF)
Milwaukee Brewers @ St Louis Cardinals 7:45 PM ET
Burnes (7-4) vs Wainwright (11-6)
This is a great pitching matchup between two division rivals. Both pitchers have been great the second half and both pitching deep into games. These two teams have combined to win 15 of their last 20, so something has to give. The best bet here might be picking the under.
Pick: Under
Daily Fantasy picks:
Corbin Burnes (SP)
Luis Urias (2B/SS)
Tommy Edman (2B)
Tyler O’Neill (OF)
Seattle Mariners @ Texas Rangers 8:05 PM ET
Anderson (5-8) vs Hearn (2-3)
Anderson is looking for his first win in a Seattle and today is a good day for it against the struggling Rangers. Look for the Mariners to bounce back and win this one.
Pick: Mariners Win
Daily Fantasy picks:
Mitch Haniger (OF)
Adolis Garcia (OF)
Houston Astro’s @ Kansas City Royals 8:10 PM ET
Valdez (8-3) vs Lynch (2-3)
Rookie lefty Daniel Lynch has been solid his last 3 starts but the Astro’s are tough on lefties and should bounce back to even this series after last night’s surprising loss.
Pick: Astros -1.5
Daily Fantasy picks:
Jose Altuve (2B)
Kyle Tucker (OF)
Salvador Perez (C)
Whit Merrifield (2B)
Cleveland Indians @ Minnesota Twins 8:10 PM ET
Morgan (1-5) vs Ober (1-1)
This is a below average pitching matchup between two below average teams. The Twins have now won 7 of 10 and are playing great baseball at home. Take the Twins to win their 4th in a tow.
Pick: Twins Win
Daily Fantasy picks:
Jose Ramirez (3B)
Jorge Polanco (2B/SS)
Oakland Athletics @ Chicago White Sox 8:10 PM ET
Bassitt (12-3) vs Lopez (1-0)
Chris Bassit has been the A’s losing streak stopper this season and has also won 2 of his last 3 starts. I think the A’s even this series and win this one today easily.
Pick: A’s win
Daily Fantasy picks:
Matt Olson (1B)
Jed Lowrie (2B)
Jose Abreu (1B)
Andrew Vaughn (1B)
San Diego Padres @ Colorado Rockies 8:40 PM ET
TBD vs Marquez (10-9)
The Rockies won last night after blowing a 9th inning lead then hitting a walk off homerun in the bottom half of the 9th. The Padres are reeling now with poor starting pitching, a trend that should continue today.
Pick: Rockies Win
Daily Fantasy picks:
Fernando Tatis (SS)
Jake Cronenworth (2B)
Charlie Blackmon (OF)
Connor Joe (1B/OF)
Philadelphia Phillies @ Arizona D-Backs 9:40 PM ET
Gibson (8-4) vs TBD
The Phillies are still in reach of first place in the NL East and face baseballs worst team behind newly acquired Kyle Gibson, who has back-to-back quality starts. Phillies cruise.
Pick: Phillies -1.5
Daily Fantasy picks:
JT Realmuto (C/1B)
Bryce Harper (OF)
Ketel Marte (2B)
New York Mets @ San Francisco Giants 9:45 PM ET
Stroman (8-11) vs Webb (6-3)
This should be a low scoring game as each pitcher has been great the second half so far. Webb is pitching deeper into games while Stroman is going about 5 innings per start. The Mets bullpen is trouble so I lean towards the Giants winning a second one in a row.
Pick: Giants -1.5
Daily Fantasy picks:
Pete Alonso (1B)
Kris Bryant (3B/OF)
LaMonte Wade Jr (1B/OF)
Pittsburgh Pirates @ Los Angeles Dodgers 10:10 PM ET
Crowe (3-7) vs Price (4-1)
The Dodgers have won 8 of 10 and won last night via 2 solo homeruns. Today should be much different where the Dodgers put a lot of runs on the board.
Pick: Dodgers -1.5
Daily Fantasy picks:
Colin Moran (3B)
Max Muncy (1B)
Cody Bellinger (OF)
Corey Seager (SS)
