The League of Legend World Championship is set to return to South Korea later this year. Knowing which players topped the charts last year, and which to keep an eye on, will prove beneficial to your LoL activities.
2022 has come and gone, and with it, a flurry of exciting League of Legends tournaments. After the World Championships at the back end of the year, it’s clear that the South Korean players continue to dominate the show. DRX and T1 faced off in the finals with the former coming up trumps after a tightly-contested affair.
There’s no doubt that these two South Korean teams are the ones to watch and wager on. So, all things equal, who’s who in the League of Legends world?
Top League of Legend Players in 2022 | |||
---|---|---|---|
Ranking | Player Name | Real Name | Total Earnings (2022) |
1 | Keria | Ryu, Min Seok | $124,663.60 |
2 | Zeus | Choi, Woo Je | $124,663.60 |
3 | Gumayusi | Lee, Min Hyeong | $124,663.60 |
4 | Faker | Lee, Sang Hyeok | $124,663.60 |
5 | Oner | Moon, Hyeon Joon | $128,777.80 |
Oner came into 2022 with a lack of experience within the LCK. This didn’t stop him from establishing himself as a very competitive jungler and integral part of the T1 setup. He even picked up a LCK Finals MVP award in the spring of last year.
Another one of the top League of Legend players in 2022 is Lee Sang-hyeok, known as Faker. With a decade of experience at the top, he continues to exude a calm and guiding presence within T1. He narrowly missed out on a fourth championship bid but held his own throughout the year.
Gumayusi set the scene alight last year, racking up 219 kills in one LCK’s split – the highest tally yet. He also managed to perform really well throughout the championships and will be eager to replicate his form this year.
Zeus has picked up a number of individual accolades over the years. It's also estimated that he has brought in around $161,000 USD from LoL tournaments since he started his esports career.
Keria is a highly-formidable mechanical and dynamic League of Legend player. Having joined T1 from DRX, and narrowly losing in the finals of the World Championship to his former team, he’ll be looking to improve even more this year. He’s certainly one to keep an eye on, especially if he can build on his fantastic performances of last year.
