On Tuesday October 19, Connecticut made its full launch of online sports wagering. This followed a week-long soft launch with just 750 people allowed to place online bets.
As previously reported by us at CaptainGambling.com, retail sports wagering was launched in Connecticut’s two tribal casinos earlier this month.
Now, residents and visitors to the Nutmeg State aged over 21 can legally place an online sports bet.
Legal online sports wagering will be provided by Mohegan Sun and Foxwoods (Connecticut’s two tribal casinos) and the state lottery.

It’s been a long-time coming for Connecticuter sports fans, who have had to be patient in waiting for legalized retail and online sports wagering to get over the line. In the meantime, residents of the Nutmeg State have had to sit idly by while neighboring states have legalized the activity before them.
Spokespeople for both of the state’s tribal casinos have thanked the state for backing them in their pursuit of legalized sports wagering.
The chairman of the tribe that owns Foxwood Casinos, Rodney Butler thanked “Governor Lamont for his leadership and his vision in pushing Connecticut to the forefront of the gaming industry”.
Governor Lamont himself spoke of Connecticut’s gaming history ahead of the full online sports betting launch:
“Connecticut has proven to be a leader when it comes to the gaming economy going back decades, and that legacy will continue with the launch of these new online options for all eligible residents”.
Lamont became the first CT resident in history to place a legal sports wager at the start of the month when retail betting was launched.
Connecticut has followed the rules of the other East Coast US sports betting hubs, such as New Jersey and Pennsylvania. In the same vein as the aforementioned trailblazers, the laws in Connecticut allow visitors to the state as well as residents to legally place an online sports wager - so long as they are aged 21 and over.
