Colorado is set to launch its first legal online sportsbook operations on the first of May. The governor’s office said that background checks on at least 11 online sportsbook operators are at or near completion.
This move will allow there to be competition at launch, which was an important feature for state regulators.
There was no news released about whether or not casino gambling will follow. Still, in most states, once online sportsbooks are up and running, online casinos tend to follow soon after.

All that remains to be done before the licenses are given out is intrusion testing, which is a series of processes to make sure it is difficult to hack the sites. All of the online sportsbook sites mentioned above are licensed in other states, so this testing step is considered nearly a sure thing.
