New York Lottery: History
Like we mentioned at the start of this article, the NY lottery is the third-oldest in the US, founded back in 1967. The lottery New York has even longer history as lottery tickets were sold in the state before the modern New York lottery laws came into play. However, it was in the modern age that things really started going off.
The modern lottery was established through the referendum in 1966, with 60 percent of people voting in favor of the lottery. The first big winner in New York was one Lou Eisenberg who took home USD 5,000,000 back in 1981, which was a huge amount of money at the time. He wasn’t given the lump sum payment option available to modern winners, though. In 2009, the lottery NYC reached agreements with Mega Millions and Powerball and the sale of tickets for both multi-state drawings started on January 31, 2010.

Chances: The Online Development of New York Lottery
At this moment in time, players in New York have only limited access to lotteries online. The site is based entirely on the subscription mode, which means that drawing tickets can only be reserved ahead of time, giving very little flexibility and limiting chances. Additionally, the subscription service is only available for a few major draws while the rest are still only available in stores.
Moving forward, it is likely that the site will expand to offer other online options and give players more opportunities to play their favorite New York lottery for Friday, Saturday, and other days of the week from the comfort of their homes. There are certainly no legal problems for doing so, which means it boils down to the willingness of lottery officials to make things more convenient for the players, likely increasing sales by quite the margin in the process.
