Although bettors may have missed this year’s Super Bowl, they will be pleased to see that our latest guide is overflowing with industry insight to ensure they are well equipped when next season comes around.
For sports enthusiasts who are new to the idea of placing a bet on NFL in Ontario, we start our guide off by explaining the many different types of NFL betting markets available at the top sportsbooks around, as well as providing our thoughts on where best to begin your search for the perfect NFL platform for you.
Experienced bettors will have plenty to get their heads around, too. Although we have ensured that our guides are straightforward and accessible to all, that does not mean we have slacked off on any details whatsoever. In fact, you’ll be making use of one of the most comprehensive reviews around, covering everything from the importance of payment options, how to set a sensible deposit limit, and where to find the best sports coverage across Ontario.
This particular guide has been created in an attempt to help sports bettors from all backgrounds place a bet on NFL in Ontario. With this in mind, we believe the perfect place to start is by offering you an overview of the main types of bets you are likely to see when making your way through an online sportsbook in Ontario.
Moneylines, also referred to as 1X2 bets, require sports bettors to select the team that they believe will win the fixture outright. This type of wager will have an underdog and a favorite. The favorite will be highlighted by a plus sign (+) and the underdog will be followed by minus (-) odds. For example:
Cincinnati Bengals (+200) vs Cleveland Browns (-200)
In the above example, bettors would be required to wager $200 on the Cincinnati Bengals in order to win an additional $100. On the other hand, those that wagered $100 on the Cleveland Browns could look to win $200.
Spreads are very similar to moneylines, however, a handicap will be applied to the result in order to make the odds even. For example:
Cincinnati Bengals -10 (-110) vs Cleveland Browns + 10 (-110)
In the above example, bettors will be able to win the same amount of money, regardless of whether they select the Bengals or Browns. Those that bet on the Browns will win their bet provided that the Browns lose by no more than 9 points. Those that bet on Bengals will need to hope that they win by 11 points or more.
Totals, also known as over/under bets, focus on the combined total of points scored throughout the match. Based on the example used above, NFL bettors may be given the option to place a bet on the Bengals and Browns scoring over/under 42.5 points. Generally, this type of wager is inclusive of OT (if required), however, we would always advise confirming before placing your bet.
Props are a type of bet that do not directly relate to the outcome of the match. For example, bettors can select who they believe will be the first, last, or anytime touchdown scorer, they can wager on the predicted rushing, throwing, or receiving yards of a player, amongst many other markets throughout the match.
In-Play bets, as the name suggests, are conducted once kick-off has taken place. The odds of these bets will be directly affected by the current scoreline, possession, and projected end result. Futures, on the other hand, are placed in advance of a particular event. For example, bettors may place a wager on who they believe will win the Super Bowl, become the 2023 #1 NFL Draft pick, or become the NFL MVP.
In the next section of our NFL betting guide, our experts have put their heads together in order to present you with their top five tips to help boost your online sports betting experience in Ontario.
There are an abundance of sports betting giants eagerly awaiting the chance to join Ontario’s sports betting market. Our third top tip suggesting how to enhance your online NFL betting experience may not be the most exciting tip you’ll ever have come across, but it is certainly one of the most important. While welcome deposits and payouts are crucial considerations when looking to sign-up to your chosen online sportsbook, it is important to not get too carried away with your deposits in the hopes of making the most out of great odds.
To ensure your experience remains as healthy and positive as possible, we recommend setting yourself a deposit limit once on-site. If the figure you are comfortable losing every week doesn’t cover the qualifying deposit for a particular betting option, we suggest finding another sportsbook or choosing a different bet. After all, your NFL betting should aim to boost your experience, not add additional stresses to it!

We are almost certain that some of you will be familiar with theScore already. Although, not for its dynamic sportsbook, but for its dedicated breaking news and sports statistic mobile app instead. When looking to download theScore bet mobile app, we encourage making use of theScore’s separate news and stats app, too.
