The ProLine+ sportsbook has been the focal point for all sports enthusiasts across the province over recent years; however, thanks to the latest amendments to gambling laws, ProLine+ looks set to be met by some sportsbook giants later this year.
Sports betting has been alive and well in Ontario since 1985. Although, despite its popularity, you have only had the opportunity to place parlays across the lottery-run ProLine+. With the latest amendments confirmed, speculation and excitement are beginning to grow across the province. Here, we have a look at which private sportsbooks could offer you a complete mobile experience, too.
The legalization of single-game wagering was passed in August 2021, allowing you to wager across popular sports online using the ProLine+ sportsbook. Prior to August 2021, you were subjected to building parlays across the province only.
Following this great news, it was confirmed that online sports betting and mobile wagering looked set to be launched in December 2022. The Alcohol and Gaming Commission of Ontario’s (AGCO) iGaming subsidiary hopes the availability of popular sportsbooks will reduce the use of offshore betting sites and, in turn, create a safe space for you to wager online in Ontario. Not only this but the tax relating to online sports betting across the province will also help to develop the province as a whole - much like we have seen from tax revenue across the US.
Unfortunately, as the terms relating to sports betting tax revenue (amongst other things) could not be finalized in time, the launch of online sports betting and mobile wagering across Ontario was pushed back until April 2022.
At the time of writing, we already have confirmation that PointsBet, theScore bet, and BetRivers have announced their interest in obtaining a legitimate license to operate in Ontario. But, we want to know which sportsbooks that look set to enter the scene offer you a dedicated mobile app experience, too!
We are confident that many of you will be familiar with industry giants, DraftKings, Caesars, FanDuel, and BetMGM - all of which provide a superb sportsbook offering, a great array of markets, and a functionally sound mobile experience.
However, all of the three operators we mentioned earlier, who have already submitted applications to the AGCO, host mobile applications, too.
theScore bet is a mobile-only sportsbook and has already proven itself to host a solid mobile app, dedicated to sports betting news and statistics. Based on our US mobile app reviews, we can see just how user-friendly and functional the sports betting counterpart is also. As a Canadian-born company, we do not doubt that theScore may well become a favorite for you as an Ontarian sports bettor.
You also have BetRivers who are another established and credible operator that has proven itself across the US market. BetRivers provides its full sportsbook offering to iOS and Android users across the US; however, you’ll have to stay up-to-date with our mobile app reviews to find out if they opt to release the mobile app to you as an Ontarian bettor.
Finally, we have PointsBet - a site that promises fast bets, fast transactions, and fast customer support. However, with mobile wagering just around the corner, we’ll be keeping our eyes firmly focused on whether we can experience fast loading times, fast bet-building, and fast withdrawals across the mobile app, too!
As you can see, there are plenty of big-name operators waiting patiently on the sidelines to receive the all-clear from the AGCO. Of course, the official online and mobile sports betting launch isn’t set to go live until April 4th, 2022. With all this time on your hands, it makes sense for you to head on over to CaptainGambling.com and begin to take advantage of our online bookmaker reviews.
Here, you’ll be treated to an honest and authentic look into the world of online sports betting. Our reviews detail the ins and outs of site security, functionality, betting markets, and more, as well as detailing which online bookmakers provide their users with a dedicated mobile app. You can stay ahead of the crowd with CaptainGambling.com.
