After walloping Southampton in the midweek, Manchester United play host to Everton at Old Trafford this weekend in match day 23 of the Premier League 2020/21 season.
Following a shock loss to Sheffield United and drab 0-0 draw at Arsenal, The Red Devils bounced back in style to thrash Southampton 9-0 on Tuesday. Anthony Martial rediscovered some form, as the Frenchman bagged a brace, with McTominay, Wan-Bissaka, Rashford and Daniel James also getting on the scoresheet - as well as the inevitable Bruno Fernades penalty. We can expect a largely unchanged United side this weekend, with players shining in all positions midweek.
The Toffees haven’t managed to regain the scintillating form that they had in the early throws of this Premier League season. Thanks to the weekend’s disappointing 2-0 loss at home to Newcastle, they badly need away results against Leeds and Man United to keep themselves in the top 4 chase. Their squad was bolstered on deadline day wit the signing of Joshua King from Bournemouth until the end of the season with the option to extend.
Manchester United have a good record against Everton and have won both of their last two matches against the Toffees. The most recent meeting was a 2-0 EFL Cup win for United at Goodison, where they also won the reverse Premier League fixture back in November. Everton haven’t beaten Manchester United since the 4-0 thrashing at Old Trafford back in April 2019. The sides haven’t even played each other at old Trafford since December.
