TopSport Bonus Offers - Are there any offers at TopSport Australia?

All TopSport reviews should mention that the site is bound by Australian gambling laws and regulations. These include the absence of all bookmaker bonuses. Sports betting in Australia must adhere to these rules.

Usability, Look & Feel - User-friendly site design in our TopSport ratings

Is TopSport reliable to use and navigate? We immediately knew our TopSport ratings would be high in this section. We liked the cool blue tones on the white background, offering a clear view of events, races, and sports no matter which page we were on. Highlights appear on the left of the home page, just under the phone number for TopSport. The occasional splash of purple – particularly for the timings counting down to the next events starting – is welcome too.

To the right of that part of the page, we can see two tabs – one for racing and one for sports. Racing appears by default, with five tabs covering ‘next to jump’ (this one flashes to get our attention) and four days covering today and the three following that. It’s simple enough to check the latest odds and runners for each of the next three upcoming races. A similar system is used for sporting events, with logos for each sport making it easy for us to work out which sports and matches are taking place.

Clicking or selecting any event takes us into a page on TopSport Australia that reveals more information about runners, riders, players, or matches. If we see odds we’d like to bet on, we can simply click on them to add them to our bet slip. Our TopSport ratings are promising for this too, thanks to the immediate appearance of the betslip on the right of the screen. We can enter our stake and the potential return appears underneath it.

Finally, the site works well across a selection of devices and computers. There are clear logos for the Android and App Stores towards the foot of the site, which means there are apps available for Android and iOS devices if desired. Security is important here too, as we found when we asked is PointsBet secure?

Payments - Is TopSport reliable when it comes to payments?

Many websites have payment method logos displayed at the bottom of the site, and TopSport Australia takes this same tack. We spotted these options included there:

  • Visa
  • BPay
  • MasterCard
  • POLi
  • paysafecard

They supply further details on the rules page, so we went there too. This confirms that they welcome deposits made via credit and debit cards, along with direct deposit, transfer, and even cheques. All TopSport reviews should note that deposits made with credit or debit cards will mean that withdrawals go back to that same card. Furthermore, withdrawals are only available once deposits have been played through at least once. So, if we deposit $20, we will need to wager that amount before asking for a withdrawal if we won something.

Customer Service - Phone, post, and email options at TopSport Austrlia

When we arrived on the home page to write this part of our TopSport reviews section, we noticed the telephone symbol underneath the logo in the top left corner of the site. This confirms their number is 1800 TOPSPORT – an easy one to recall whenever needed. At the bottom of the site, a selection of menu links includes a ‘contact us’ option. Contact is a vital part of our reviews, including Palmerbet reviews.

We didn’t find a live chat facility unfortunately, but they’ve supplied us with every other way to get in touch. There are phone numbers (and fax numbers) for inside and outside Australia, along with email addresses for banking and general queries. Finally, there is a postal address if required.

We suspect phoning the team is going to be the fastest way to get an answer. We should mention, though, that the FAQ section answers a lot of queries and it could save the hassle of phoning to start with. Our TopSport ratings dip a little with the absence of live chat, but we cannot knock off more than a point or two in this area. We’ll end this section by revealing that our online research revealed largely positive feedback on the site from others, so this looks like a small niggle.

License & Security - Is TopSport secure with your data and funds?

The site uses a GenerationWeb 270c interactive betting system. Upon closer inspection, we could see that this system is approved by the NSW Office of Liquor & Gaming, so members can be confident they are using a reputable website. Our promising TopSport ratings are supported by this information. We also discovered that they comply with all aspects of the Australian Bookmakers Association Code of Practice. We look at aspects like these in all our ratings, including Ladbrokes ratings.

The about page on the TopSport Australia website also includes other information that points to this being a reputable site. For example, they only admit those aged 18 and over. Furthermore, they suggest using software to prevent children in the household gaining access to the site (something like Net Nanny, for example). The same page confirms that the site is owned and run by Merlehan Bookmaking Pty Ltd, operating over the phone and online. TopSport Australia also uses approved software to record all calls made, protecting both the business and all those who use it. Transparency is key here.

Rewards & Loyalty Program - Does TopSport reward its regular bettors?

Loyalty rewards get a mention inside the promos area at TopSport Australia. We can read more about this by going through to the rules at the bottom of the page. How high are our TopSport ratings for this program? We can confirm everyone who signs up to TopSport gets automatic membership of the Loyalty Rewards Program. Members can opt out online if they do not wish to participate. This simple approach is one we approve of, although it is only fair to mention that this is not the only operator does this. In fact, something similar contributed to the very high Neds ratings you will find in their review.

Each dollar deposited earns 10 points. Single and multi-bets and racing wagers also receive points, but only on dividends of $1.20 or over. Once inside our account, we could see a tab labeled Benefits. It’s in there that the current points total is seen. We’d need to go into this section to redeem any points. The maximum balance allowable at any time is two million. Something we haven’t seen mentioned in many TopSport reviews! While points can expire, this can only occur if we don’t use the site to make any wagers for six months or more. We’ll round off this part of our TopSport reviews process by pointing to the info on this program contained within the rules of the site.

TopSport Sports Betting

Betting markets - A big range of betting markets to choose from

No TopSport reviews are complete without covering the available markets on the site. We’ll focus on racing first. At the top of this section in the left-hand column, we can see the four races starting next. We also see separate areas for horses, greyhounds, and harness racing. Other areas are given for thoroughbreds, box challenge, jockey challenge, and feature races. We can also access a results area from there.

Moving onto sports at TopSport Australia, we can see how the site earned its name. They’ve included more than two dozen sports, along with politics, soccer futures, e-sports, and even Gaelic football. It’s also easy enough to go through to today’s matches, so we can see what is available in the coming hours.

Selecting any sport opens that section to view the forthcoming matches and events. Selecting one of those gives the odds for potential outcomes, i.e., to pick the overall winner. It’s easy to choose one and to add it to the bet slip from there. We’d like to make it clear that even though there are lots of sports and events under each tab, it remains an easy prospect to drill down and find whatever we want to bet on.

Odds - Top marks for odds in our TopSport ratings!

Our TopSport ratings improve once again here thanks to the enhanced odds offered as part of one of the promos in the relevant section. These odds cover racing and sports, so whatever we would like to bet on, we can find pleasing odds to work with. They will of course vary depending on the sport, race, or event we want to cover. It’s important to note that fixed win and place odds on the website do not change, as per the information given in the products area.

We can also easily see the available odds for any outcome or event, regardless of the sport or race chosen. The site offers 10 different odds types for various events, including best tote + SP, top fluctuation, and fixed odds. Visiting the products page revealed a list of these plus a short explanation of each. No mention is made of fractional or decimal odds. However, we would say that TopSport Australia is transparent about the different odds and formats for each sport and race. It is easy to learn more about them by reading the basic info on the products page – we’d recommend it. They supply just a sentence or two about each one to make them easier to understand.

Live Betting and Streaming – Live betting available over phone

There are two ways to reach the live betting area at TopSport. Reviews should note that there is a live tab in the sports portion of the site, along with the in-play option in the main menu. The default here is to see the ‘any sport’ area, which lists all live matches and events taking place at that time. It’s also possible to select any of the sports listed there – these change according to what is happening when visiting the website. Obviously, there will be times when nothing appears in this section. Our first visit was early in the morning, and nothing appeared in the in-play area until an hour or two had gone by.

Betting on a live event is different from betting ahead of time. The latter can be done online, but anyone wishing to bet on something live must call their number to do so. This isn’t always mentioned in TopSport reviews, but it is important for us to cover it. The reason for this is that Australian legislation (Interactive Gambling Act 2001) demands that all in-play bets are made via telephone rather than online. This may seem frustrating, but it is reassuring to know that TopSport follows all guidance and legislation relevant to the market. It acts as further confirmation that the site consistently adheres to all laws and regulations applicable to the market it operates in.

Limits - What limits are in place at TopSport?

The minimum bet at TopSport is confirmed as $2 on the How to Bet page. We can glean further details about how to bet by reading the rules page. This points out that the minimum bet taken via telephone (whether for live betting or otherwise) is $10. However, it seems that these are total wagers rather than being for a single bet. So, for example, we may place five $2 wagers across five sports or racing events to reach the $10 minimum required from us via telephone. We suspect most people will want to bet online though, which opens the way for smaller bets to be placed.

There are maximum limits stated within the rules too. We can complete our TopSport ratings by confirming the $200,000 maximum payout for a phone wager. This drops to $100,000 maximum for a wager placed via the internet. The rules do add the words ‘unless otherwise agreed’ in both cases, but it should be noted that the maximum covers multiple bets along with singles and exotics, just to be clear. It’s another example of the transparency of the site.

Product Summary & Conclusion - It’s never been easier to place your bets!

A solid site, easy to explore, including plenty of information in a manner that is simple to digest. Our first visit to TopSport revealed the answer to the oft-asked question, ‘Is TopSport secure and safe to use?’ is a hearty yes. There are sports here for everyone, on a fast-loading site that is a pleasure to use. We found it easy to keep up with forthcoming events across many sports and races. It’s nice to see the highlights displayed in a clear manner too.

There are many reasons to recommend TopSport to those living in Australia who want to access all their favourite sports in one place. Placing a few quick wagers online is easy and secure, with in-play betting easy enough to access on the phone too. Even those who have never used a sportsbook/racebook combo before will have no trouble using this one.

Overall Conclusion - A simple, clear, and user-friendly betting site

CaptainGambling.com always gives an honest answer when reviewing an Australian-focused online sportsbook. The TopSport choice is certainly top of our list, with decent odds, a wider range of sports and races, and live betting available too. With so much information to share, that homepage could be a disaster, yet it manages to be anything but. These sites can be overwhelming, but TopSport has gone for a design that welcomes newcomers and seasoned bettors alike. It stands as a positive testament to the site that no map is needed to help a visitor look around and find whatever they want to bet on.
